Dear Sweet Jesus,
Thank You for giving me this opportunity. I pray that my luggage will arrive safe and whole in La Guardia. Please please help me to resist temptation when the state and its nearby ones invite me to travel around as I have to save up for a future life with my soon to be husband. I look forward to an enjoyable working environment. I claim that I will have fun and will not notice how long 5 months will be. Lord, help me and Dylan prepare for everything, by Your grace, even if we will be miles apart for the moment.
Again, Lord, I emphasize, help me not to be weak when it comes to traveling around NY. I need to save. Lol!

A year ago, Dylan and I met at my girlfriend’s birthday party. I just arrived from the Philippines a month before that night and was so new in this place called San Diego, which I now call my one true happy place. Our story started with a kiss and a bunch of beautiful surprises. Six months of being together in San Diego had been the best of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. Unfortunately, I had to move to Florida for my winter season job. Dylan and I decided to end things between us… for the best. All the while I thought that being apart will help both of us move on. Not! We both have become more fond of each other even separated by distance and the slight difference in time zone.
After six months of working hard in Florida, I had to go back to California to attend my grandparents’ 50th wedding, where I invited Dylan to be my date. Come May 11, 2012, my grandparents’ wedding day and also, our first anniversary, a series of events had happened. In the morning, I woke up with a slight hangover from drinking with my cousins the night before, got my hair and make-up done then rode the limo to the church. In the afternoon, I walked down the aisle as I was one of the bridesmaids, found myself at the podium as I shared the 2nd reading from the letters of St. Paul… Around 7pm, we were all at the reception hall, enjoying the music, the food and all the fanciness of the place. Right after dinner, the video montage of my grandparents was shown with the song I Couldn’t Ask For More playing in the background… I was enjoying the heartwarming video when Dylan gently whispered to my ear his proposal speech, which I couldn’t even remember because I froze and kinda freaked out inside. Lol! I recall I was just pinching his fingers really tight the whole time he was talking.
After that, we both stepped out of the hall to talk but I was still speechless, amazed, overwhelmed… in a good way. The feeling was indescribable like I wanted to shout for joy but no sound’s coming out.. I wanted to cry but tears of happiness just don’t wanna run down my cheeks. I wanted to jump but I just couldn’t move. All I knew that moment was I was super happy and surprised and amazed. It felt like my heart gained an extra million pounds! Yes, we got engaged! <3
It was never easy for me and Dylan. We had to go through uncertainties, distance, different time zones, issues between holding back and/or holding on… For two people who never really believed in long distance relationships, never really tried, but everything fell into place and surprisingly worked out… I think it’s pretty amazing! Love truly happens at the right time, with the right person. <3
Funny how my life turned upside down here in the US. Funny how I found the love of my life here in California. Funny how I found my happiness in San Diego. It has been a roller coaster ride, and I know the ride won’t stop. Nevertheless, I am and will always be down for it… for the journey… especially now that I have Dylan to enjoy the ride with… forever. <3
